Patricia D'Antonio is a nurse, historian and the editor of the Nursing History Review, the official journal of the American Association for the History of Nursing. Her research positions nurses as absolutely central to the larger interdisciplinary histories of institutions, clinical practice, health care policy, and women's care work. In 2012 she received the President’s Award from the American Association for the History of Nursing.
Dr. D'Antonio's clinical specialty is adult psychiatric/mental health nursing, and her particular interest is in the consultation/liaison role. She is an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and serves on a task force charged by the American Academy of Nursing with constructing psychiatric/ mental health competencies for baccalaureate nursing students.
