The Traditional nursing program curriculum begins with biomedical and social science courses taken as prerequisites to the clinical component of the program. Freshmen entering UB as nursing majors should complete the prerequisite courses during the first two years of study while fulfilling the University's General Education requirements.
Students entering with transfer credit from other institutions may have already satisfied some of the nursing prerequisites and/or SUNY general education requirements. Equivalent courses may be found at http://taurus.buffalo.edu while courses not yet articulated in TAURUS may be evaluated for equivalency by the School of Nursing faculty.

† Intended nursing majors must complete SOC 101 or American Pluralism to satisfy the School of Nursing prerequisite requirement. SOC 101 does not satisfy the American Pluralism general education requirement. Many transfer students are exempt from the American Pluralism requirement and are advised to take SOC 101. For those who enter UB as freshmen, UGC 211 or any of the American IntendedPluralism cognate courses is required for graduation from the university and can be used to satisfy the nursing prerequisite.
††College chemistry credit will be required of all applicants who plan to enter the nursing program in fall 2014 and beyond.
Applicants with a previous non-nursing bachelor's degree from a U.S. institution or international equivalent and a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 will be waived from:
