Dr. Porock offers guidance with the proposal process by acting as a sounding board for innovative ideas, as well as reading and critiquing of grant proposals for scientific merit. Dr. Porock also provides support for writing for publication in the scholarship of practice and teaching. Her program of research is in older people with life limiting conditions and specifically the transition to end of life care. She conducts research using both qualitative and quantitative approaches with older people in nursing homes and hospital settings and in developing an explanatory theory of recognizing dying which aids in understanding the transition so that goals can be changed from recovery to comfort at an appropriate time.

Dr. Wu provides the Center's clients with research and statistical consultation. His research program has focused on applications of quantitative research methodology and data-based studies. Specific interest areas include multi-level data analysis, hierarchical linear models, longitudinal data analysis, and AIDS related research. He teaches research methods and multivariate analysis courses at the graduate level.

Patti provides direct assistance to the Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship with the overall business functions of the CNR. Her duties include oversight of the CNR Center's budget, managing staff, providing assistance with grants and contracts focusing on pre-award and coordinates with research faculty in the early stages of project planning. Patti works closely with the Dean's Office and UB Sponsored Projects Services (SPS) in establishing project budgets, proposal review and assembling and submitting grant proposals. Once funded, Patti provide PIs with general project administration and oversight focusing on providing budget projections, as well as working closely with the School's finance staff to ensure purchasing, personnel appointments, salary recovery, travel procurement, and expense reimbursement.
As the Program Assistant for the Institute for Person-Centered Care, Patti supports the Program Director of Education and Training with the administrative functions of the Institute. She also assists the Program Director with the planning and coordinating of continuing education courses, fundraising events and symposium/conferences. Patti is responsible for budget development and financial reporting and forecasting for the Institute.

Jin Young is a fourth year PhD student. Her research focus is the cultural influence on female international students’ knowledge, attitude, and health seeking behaviors on gynecological screening tests. Her responsibilities in the CNR include assisting with literature searches, poster preparation (print), data collection (entry), data analysis, and manuscript preparation.

Nicki is a first year DNP student studying Nurse Anesthesia in the School of Nursing. Her research interest is in using complementary methods, alongside traditional medicine, to reduce the amount of chemical anesthetics needed to maintain proper levels of unconsciousness during surgery. Her role in the CNR includes assisting faculty with literature searches, manuscript preparation, poster design, EndNote, data collection and analysis.

The Center for Nursing Research also has work study students available to assist with tasks such as photocopying, retrieving literature, and specified literature searches.
