Advisement Appointments and Hours

Advisement by Appointment

Academic advising appointments, in person or by phone, may be scheduled by calling 716-829-3350. Priority for appointments will be given to current and newly admitted UB Students. Make sure you have your UB person number available when you call. If you have quick questions please email your advisor or nursing@buffalo.edu rather than making an appointment.

Advisement Walk-In Hours - For Current UB Student ONLY

For hours, call 716-829-3350 or email nursing@buffalo.edu

Registration Advisement (Intended Majors)

We encourage all UB intended nursing majors to attend a group registration advisement session. Following each session, advisors will be available to meet individually with students who have specific questions and concerns. Attendance fulfills all advisement requirements, including Finish in Four.

Click here to register and view dates & times.

Students who are unable to attend one of the above group sessions may make an individual advisement appointment by calling the Student Services Office at 716-829-2537 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. If you are directed to voicemail, please leave a message and someone will return your call.

Academic Advisors

At the School of Nursing we do not assign advisors, rather, we take a team  approach to advisement. The entire advisement staff is trained to advise all undergraduate nursing students. Please note that it is the student's responsibility to seek advisement. Those participating in the Finish in Four program are required to meet with an advisor or attend a group advisement session each semester.

List-Serves and UB Learns Course

Intended Nursing Majors

We offer two ways for you to stay connected.

  • Intended Nursing Majors List-Serve: NURINT-LIST@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU
This moderated list-serv is used to e-mail intended nursing majors about important academic information, deadlines, and opportunities. Click here to check your subscription, subscribe, and/or unsubscribe to the list-serv.
  • UB Learns Advisement Course for Intended Nursing Majors:
This course contains documents, links and tools to help with the completion of requirements and the application process. If you do not see the course in your UBLearns account, please e-mail nursing@buffalo.edu to request enrollment and include your UB username.

Approved Nursing Majors

We offer two ways for you to stay connected.

  • UBLearns: All approved Traditional and ABS nursing majors will be added to a cohort specific UBLearns advisement course. This course will house information in the grade center regarding your immunization records and other documents (BLS, Honor Code, Clinical Evaluation, etc.) collected by the Office of Student Affairs.

Intended Nursing Majors

Intended nursing majors are UB students who are working on prerequisite coursework and preparing to apply to the nursing program (upper division). Students can apply once they have met the minimum course requirements and the minimum GPA requirements. Most intended nursing majors typically apply for the Traditional BS program in the spring semester of their sophomore year. Graduating seniors (in other majors) can apply for the ABS program during the fall semester of their senior year.

Approved Nursing Majors

Approved nursing majors are UB students who have been officially accepted into the nursing program to begin upper division course work.
