The Maternal and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program offers the
This program provides comprehensive care to women across the life span in a wide range of primary and transitional care settings. Students gain expertise in reproductive health care for women and men and gynecological, preventive, and restorative care for women. Students can focus in such specialty areas as genetics, rape/forensic evidence collection, and oncology. Clinical experiences include such sites as antepartum and gynecological clinics, labor and delivery triage units, emergency rooms, and other ambulatory settings. The program meets the educational requirements established by the National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and National Nurse Specialties. Completion of the program allows students to take the National Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner Examination.

* Credits cannot be transferred into a certificate program. A maximum number of 32 credit hours is required to complete the Maternal and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner advanced certificate. However, credits may be waived if the individual’s transcript indicates that the required course or its equivalent has been taken within the last 10 years. Only the faculty member teaching the required course can determine equivalency of content during a formal review process, initiated by the student. Despite the number of courses that are permitted to be waived, all students in this program must complete at least 18 credit hours and 300 clinical hours, all which must be taken at the University at Buffalo. No other exemptions are allowed, or will be considered.
