Richard “Dick” Moore has served for nearly a decade as the Development Director for the UB School of Nursing from 1995- 2000, and from 2004- present. Mr. Moore had also served in a similar capacity at Roswell Park Cancer Institute from 2001 - 2003. Mr. Moore's initial development experience began when he was the CEO in the YMCA movement from 1984-1994.
I view my function at the School of Nursing as one of advocacy. While I do provide primary leadership to the fundraising goals of the school of nursing, my responsibilities actually begin with the Deans ongoing strategic planning efforts. In essence my initial communication is simply to ask for your “TWO CENTS”; in the form of your own professional observations and opinions of our nursing profession at this time in history.
With several family members who are nursing professionals (including a daughter who is a proud UB Nursing graduate, BS 2003) I have been privileged in providing nursing alumni with good communications and various opportunities to remain engaged with the school. This has hopefully contributed in creating a sense of belonging for alumni from the classes of 1936 to the present, developing a spirit of partnership that has quite naturally led to an increase in both the intellectual and financial investment of the UB Nursing Family, internally and externally. T his voluntary commitment by alumni over the generations has empowered the cause of UB Nursing in ways that are immeasurable, going far beyond the financial donations that are of such a practical help. A wonderful example of this is the recent dedication of UB Nursing memorabilia collection, all made possible by items donated from our alumni, not to mention the generous purchasing of the display cases that house our growing collection.
As I move forward in serving this special nursing constituency, I hope you will feel free to call upon me with any questions you may have regarding how philanthropy can help advance UB Nursing and our profession. On behalf of the UB School of Nursing faculty, staff, students and over 5,000 alumni, I thank you for your involvement in the past, present and future.
Please remember you are an important part of our past, and are a needed partner in our future. As such we invite your comments and suggestions. Please feel free to contact us, or be open to our correspondence, phone calls, visits or alumni gatherings as they occur. We feel you will be glad that you did.

Maria graduated from Tarakanita Secretarial College in Jakarta (Indonesia) with outstanding grades. While in San Francisco, she attended Small Business classes and Supervision & Management courses at City College, SF. Maria is now studying for business administration at the UB School of Management.
Maria is a wonderful asset to our School of Nursing. She joined UB SON in 1998. Nine years ago, she was very excited to see snow for the first time when she came to Buffalo and now this native Indonesian knows how to cross-country ski.
Maria came from Novotel Hotel Yogyakarta (Indonesia) where she worked as a secretary to Executive Manager for Rooms Division. Prior to Novotel, she worked in various companies in San Francisco, CA, such as Chevron Corporation, DFS (Duty Free) Merchandising Ltd. and Nestlé Beverage (she loved hot chocolate & it was free!).
Her primary duties at SON are plan, supervise, and deliver all support functions for the university development office. It is also her primary duty to maintain the SON giving club records. She helped the Director of Development, Richard F. Moore, in organizing SON campaign meetings, regional alumni luncheons, Tea Party for student scholars/school benefactors, receptions and other alumni gatherings. |
