Georgia (Mackie) Burnette, UB School of Nursing Alumna from the Class of ’55 and ’81 is a retired nurse, active blogger and seasoned world traveler having recently returned from a two week tour of The Republic of Cuba with her husband, Luther. While intended as a getaway from our famous Buffalo winters, it turned surprisingly, into a journey of discovery.

Three blogs and seven articles later, Georgia is planning a second tour of Cuba to focus on educating the public on the island’s medical facilities (community clinics, dental offices, and hospitals).  Georgia published her articles in the Buffalo Criterion, a local community newspaper and manages the 3 blogs on her Facebook page.  Georgia is just one of our many UB Nursing Alumnae who continue to pursue life-long learning with a non-stop passion for education and public service.
