UBSON Faculty and Alumna Honored at the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Awards Celebrating Nursing

Four faculty members as well as a member of the Class of 2012 received awards at the Annual March of Dimes Nurse of the year Awards Celebrating Nursing Excellence were held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel, Rochester Riverside.  A list of the winners and nominees from UB School of Nursing along with their award category are as follows:

Mary Carey, PhD, RN, CNS won the Education/Research/Nurse/Author Award. 

Danita Edwards, BS’12 currently employed at the Erie County Medical Center won the Rising Star Award.  This award is for a recent graduate who is expected to make a difference in nursing.  This was the first year for this category and Danita is the first recipient.  

Deborah Finnell, DNS, RN, PMHNP-BC, CARN-AP was awarded in the category of Behavioral Health. 

Sharon Hewner, PhD, RN won the Performance Management, Quality and Improvement Award. 

Carla Jungquist, PhD, FNP was nominated for the Education Research Nurse Author Award. 

Pam Paplham, DNP, AOCNP, FNP-BC  won in the category of Home Care, Hospice and Palliative Care, Oncology.
