Linda McGillis Hall speaks at Bullough Lecture on Nurse Workforce Issues

Linda McGillis Hall, PhD, FAAN, FCAHS, Professor and Associate Dean of Research & External Relations at the University of Toronto Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing spoke at the UB School of Nursing’s 16th Annual Bonnie Bullough Lecture, on September 28, 2012.  Her presentation was entitled, “Exploring the Impact of Interruptions to Nursing Work: Patient and Nurse Outcomes.”

Dr. McGillis Hall discussed her research on interruptions, distractions and discrepancies in the workplace environment and how they affect nurse’s work and ultimately patient outcomes.  Her presentation included a discussion on interventions implemented to eliminate interruptions and an analysis of how even some of the simplest changes had a positive effect on patient outcomes and improvement in the nurse work environment.
