Joint UB School of Nursing and STTI Volunteer Project
The UB School of Nursing through Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Kappa Chapter has been collecting cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, toiletries and gift cards for the Kathleen Mary House. The Kathleen Mary House is a transitional house located in the Southtowns of WNY that opened its doors to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence and need safe, short-term housing. read more...

Georgia (Mackie) Burnette, UB School of Nursing Alumna from the Class of ’55 and ’81 is a retired nurse, active blogger and seasoned world traveler having recently returned from a two week tour of The Republic of Cuba with her husband, Luther. Margaret (Meg) McCabe, DNSc, PNP has an extremely busy professional and personal life filled with 3 jobs, 4 children and a husband, but she has found balance as evidenced by her success in both areas. Her nursing career has taken her from Buffalo to Chicago to NYC with a short stop in Rural Michigan settling in Boston, Massachusetts and her journey illustrates that one never knows where their career path will lead. read more...

A desire to travel combined with a desire to help people led Marcy Holmes to become a Menopause Clinician and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) commuting between Maine and Martha’s Vineyard in her dual roles. Marcy was recently featured on the Dr. Oz show for her expertise in Menopause. She is passionate about her work and was eager to share her interesting journey and adventurous career choices that landed her on the beautiful island of Martha’s Vineyard and sharing her time by traversing to the state of Maine to practice as a Women’s Health NP, as well as writing for various internet sites. read more...

Carolyn Farrell is certainly what one would refer to as an inspiration and positive role model to all nurses with an illustrious career in clinical genetics and genetic counseling that has spanned 4 decades. A UB School of Nursing (UBSON) alumna, Carolyn started her educational path at UB as a math major. She credits a visit with a friend for igniting her interest in nursing and precipitating a career changing decision after just one semester. Call it serendipity or call it fate but Carolyn made a career choice and never looked back. read more...
