Immediate opening for Master’s prepared nurse with recent medical-surgical/critical care experience for adjunct clinical instructor position with senior level nursing students. Clinical supervision of eight students two days a week (8 or 12 hours) for 12 weeks in acute medical-surgical unit. Previous teaching/preceptor experience preferred.
Minimum Qualifications - Master’s degree in nursing/nursing education. Eligible for licensure as a registered professional nursing in New York State.

Carol Brewer, PhD, RN, Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Professor was recently appointed to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP) by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
NACNEP advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary and Congress on policy matters arising in the administration of Title VIII including the range of issues relating to the nurse workforce, nursing education and nursing practice improvement. read more...

The changing demands of the nation's complex health care environment require that nurses serving in specialty positions have the highest level of scientific knowledge and practice expertise possible. Many factors contributed to the need for change in nursing education at the graduate level including: the rapid expansion of knowledge underlying practice; increased complexity of patient care; national concerns about the quality of care and patient safety; shortages of nursing personnel which demands a higher level of preparation for leaders who can design and assess care; shortages of doctorally prepared nursing faculty, and increasing educational expectations for the preparation of other health professionals. read more...
