JoAnne McVey, current Director of Patient Care Services for Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) has served as a clinical preceptor for our senior nursing students for the past 4 years. In the Spring of 2010, she joined with UB SON to enroll her unit at RPCI as a DEU. This is the first DEU in a cancer specialty hospital and several UB SON faculty nominated JoAnne for this coveted award. read more...

The UB School of Nursing held its' 8th Annual Alumni Luncheon and Awards Ceremony at the Adam's Mark Hotel on Friday, October 21, 2011.  On hand to celebrate were many Alumni, community leaders from our major various healthcare systems along with faculty and students to congratulate our award winners.  Roswell Park Cancer Institute sponsored the program. read more...

The School of Nursing welcomes back faculty, students and staff with an annual cookout to kickoff back to school week.  Classes which began August 29, 2011 are now in full swing and everyone was excited to start another productive year at the school.

Shante’ White received the Lois Widley Scholarship for the 2011 International Nurses Society on Addictions Conference in Tucson, Arizona.  The Scholarship included the registration for the conference entitled:  Management of Pain and Addictions: Broadening Our Perspectives

Please join Interim Dean Davina Porock for the Annual University at Buffalo, School of Nursing Alumni Luncheon and Awards Ceremony celebrating the UB School of Nursing’s long tradition of fostering excellence in nursing practice through education and research. 

The luncheon will include our annual awards ceremony featuring the bestowing of the Distinguished Alumni Award, Dean’s Award for Excellence in Service, Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Research, and Excellence in Clinical Scholarship along with the Distinguished Preceptor Award.

Registration is now open for the 19th annual United Way Day of Caring held on Wednesday, August 17, 2011.   As you may know, this is Western New York's largest community service event, mobilizing thousands of volunteers to complete hands-on, community service projects in Erie and Niagara counties. Organized by the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County, the Day of Caring serves as a launch of the university's annual Campaign for the Community. Hundreds of UB faculty, staff, and students volunteer their time to complete projects in the local community. read more...

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Davina C. Porock as Interim Dean of the School of Nursing effective August 1, 2011. Dr. Porock’s appointment is in effect through the conclusion of a national search for a permanent dean. Dr. Porock is Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship, and Director of the Center for Nursing Research at the School of Nursing.

Jean K. Brown, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean of the University at Buffalo School of Nursing, announced that she will step down from deanship in August 2011 after nearly six years at the helm of the school.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Davina C. Porock as Interim Dean of the School of Nursing effective August 1, 2011.  Dr. Porock’s appointment is in effect through the conclusion of a national search for a permanent dean.    Dr. Porock is Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship, and Director of the Center for Nursing Research at the School of Nursing.

The University at Buffalo School of Nursing has received an $80,000 scholarship grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to expand enrollment and increase diversity among students seeking to receive a nursing degree months earlier than traditional schedules, as well as earn a second major degree.
