The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund is an organization that was founded by Rebecca Campbell and is based in the D.C. Metropolitan area. After the attacks on our nation her youngest son enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N.C. Her nephew was already serving in the USMC and was deployed to Afghanistan as well as other close friends. In February 2003 her son was deployed to Baghdad and later that year with the help of family and friends she organized a fundraiser to help children affected by the loss of a parent.
The financial assistance program assists disabled service member families as well. Donations come from families, individuals, and businesses throughout the World.
Paul Church served in Iraq from 2004-2005 as a Navy Seabee with Unit B NMBC #14. Paul also served in Kuwait in 2008. We honor him for his service to our country.
Elizabeth states, “I would have never imagined I would be back in school studying for my Masters in Mental Health Nursing at this point in my life. My wish is, upon completing my degree, to work at the Veterans Affairs for our veterans. It is all because of my husband, Paul Church, a veteran himself in the Navy. He is my inspiration for where my life has taken me. I chose my field because of Paul; he truly was such an amazing soul.”
“I am completely honored to receive this scholarship from such a special organization. It is bittersweet and a tribute to my late husband. As a professional I f I can give back to those who have served our country, by providing the best optimal care, then I know I have made a difference. What could be more fulfilling than that? The journey to get here was not easy, but in the end it will be worth it. Children of Fallen Heroes Relief Fund, is just one of my angels helping me to attain that dream.”
Elizabeth is planning to graduate the Summer of 2012 as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
