.jpg) Recently, a clinical rotation provided Duane and Kaplan with the opportunity to witness first-hand the impact that Roswell has on patients and their families. This experience left them with the desire to take action and be a part of the fight for a cure.
The Team Cure Challenge will require Ellen and Rachel to fundraise a total of $6000 in order to be eligible to compete in the half marathon. Once the money is raised they can focus on running in support of those who have been affected by cancer.
The UB School of Nursing instills a sense of community in their students. The example that faculty and staff set played a part in Duane and Kaplan’s decision to take on this challenge. The students feel an overwhelming amount of support from the school of nursing and hope that this support can spread to the community.
Duane ran cross-country in her first undergraduate degree at Canisius College and has competed in three prior half-marathons. Kaplan is a gymnast at the collegiate level and this will be her first half-marathon experience. Both students look forward to participating in this event and with the help and support of the WNY community, they can.
If you would like to contribute to either student you can simply do so by visiting their website. Please consider pledging in honor of someone you know who is currently affected by cancer or in memory of someone you have lost. The team website is: http://giving.roswellpark.org/UBSON, and from there you can donate to the students by selecting their names on the right hand side.
