About the Computing Orientation

Purpose
This orientation is designed to familiarize you with the computing resources that you will need to successfully complete your on-line course. As a student enrolled in the University at Buffalo School of Nursing, you have access to UB's e-mail system, libraries, and technical support services. This orientation will familiarize you with the information that you will need to access UB's computing resources, UBlearns (your course web site), and the library reserves. The orientation will also provide you with a basic outline of how these systems work and where you can go to get more help with them.

Getting Around
This orientation is comprised of pages that will provide you with specific information about Web sites that you are going to need to use while you are enrolled at the University at Buffalo. Those pages will appear similar to this one. At the bottom of each of these pages you will find a navigation bar that will allow you to move from page to page.

In addition to this information you will also be taken directly to the Web site that you need to access. When this occurs you will notice that you will have a list of instructions in the left hand column. These instructions will walk you through a specific task you need to do, or direct you to a specific resource. Once you have completed the tasks listed in the left hand column, you can click on the "Next" button to proceed with the orientation.

You will also notice that many of the pages in this orientation contain links to the Web sites they are referencing. When you click on one of these links that page will open in a new browser window. To return to the orientation just close that browser window.

All of the pages used in this orientation are also referenced in the index. This will make it easier if you need to come back later and repeat any of these steps or would like to read through the materials again to refresh your memory. To access the index or Table of Contents page click on the "Index" button at the bottom of each page.
