University at Buffalo

The University at Buffalo is New Yorks premier public center for graduate and professional education and the states largest and most comprehensive public university. As a research-oriented institution, the University at Buffalo supports faculty working at the forefront of such diverse fields as nutrition and chronic illness, earthquake damage mitigation, the neurophysiology of hearing, assistive technology for elderly and disabled people, the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic health, bioinformatics, photonics, and structural biology.
The university has two major campuses. The South Campus, home of the School of Nursing, is located in the northeast corner of Buffalo. The universitys main campus for most of the twentieth century, the South Campus is now its health-sciences campus. The most recent addition is a $54 million medical research facility.
UBs North Campus, located four miles from the South Campus in suburban Amherst, houses most of the universitys non-health-sciences divisions. Convenient shuttle bus service connects the universitys two campuses. Buffalos rapid transit system connects the South Campus with downtown and the waterfront.

City of Buffalo
Situated at the end of Lake Erie, Buffalo has the livability of a small town and the amenities of a large city, including a first-rate symphony orchestra, the renowned Albright-Knox Art Gallery, a vibrant theater district, professional football and hockey, and restaurants to suit every taste. Buffalo is sometimes known as the 20-minute city - just about anything one could desire or need can be found within a twenty-minute drive. Niagara Falls, downtown Buffalo, and another country (Canada) are all less than a half hours drive from UB. Toronto, one of the great cosmopolitan cities of the Northeast, is two hours away by car.
