Dean Marsha Lewis, PhD, RN, FAAN

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the University at Buffalo School of Nursing.

The University at Buffalo has a rich tradition as a research university and we, at the School of Nursing are proud to be part of this dynamic world of discovery. By equipping our students with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the growing demands of global health care, our students are set up for success in the classroom and ultimately prepared for their professional future.

With faculty members conducting research in emerging areas that advance nursing practice, shape health policy and impact the health of people, families and communities, our students are exposed to extraordinary opportunities to provide better patient care and develop new knowledge needed to improve patient outcomes.

The School of Nursing offers an unparalleled educational foundation in the Traditional and Accelerated BS programs, Doctor of Nursing Practice, MS in Nursing Leadership in Health Care Systems, and PhD programs. Our post-MS to DNP program and PhD program are delivered in a distance learning format, offering easier access to those wishing to pursue advanced degrees. Additionally, the school has responded to the Future of Nursing recommendations with our baccalaureate completion program that meets the needs of working RNs and the demands of a professional nursing workforce.

Students engage in experiential learning in collaborative community settings, in the classroom, and from each other.  Interprofessional opportunities abound within the classroom, simulation labs and on cultural exchanges promoting an atmosphere that encourages a collaborative exchange of ideas.

View our global opportunities page for information on cultural exchange experiences open to our students in impoverished areas abroad and in rural areas in the United States. Students often report that these opportunities are transformational as they return with increased self-confidence in their nursing skills as well as a new perspective and appreciation for culture and diversity.

Our powerful network of alumni who are leaders in the community and across the globe. We value their many contributions to the school and to our students as preceptors, mentors and volunteers.

UB School of Nursing is located on the historic South Campus of UB, on Main Street in Buffalo, New York. The school features state of the art classrooms, laboratories, simulation centers, and most importantly, dedicated and skilled faculty and staff.

I invite you to join our UB community and begin or enhance your professional nursing career.
