I chose UB because they offer a flexible distant PhD curriculum and have an excellent reputation.
My area of interests include simulation-based education, undergraduate nursing education and patient safety.
Having dedicated most of my career to the health and safety of patients, I realized the next step for me is to pursue a terminal degree in nursing with the purpose to elevate the research, scholarship and education in simulation-based learning. My professional goal is to continue to expand and solidify my role in academia.
Being awarded the Senator Patricia K. McGee Nursing Faculty Scholarship Program through the Higher Education Services Corporation of New York reduces the financial burden associated with returning to school. My decision to return to school is purely out of a desire to grow and evolve as a nurse, researcher and educator. Receiving this award allows me to enjoy my courses and not stress over how I will fund this portion of my education.
