Why UBSON?

I chose UB School of Nursing for my graduate education because I wanted a program that educated me not only in how to treat pathological illness, but also how to research and apply evidence-based-practice in my patient care. This skill enhancement will aid in improved patient care and outcomes that will help the people in my community.

The doctoral program also teaches ways to aid in education. I love to take new or student nurses under my wing at work. I am honored to learn about enhancing their educational journey.

Areas of Interest

I am interested in critical care medicine. Both cardiovascular and neurological critical care are subspecialties that I am eager to learn more about.

Professional Goals

It is my goal to work as an intensivist in critical care. I have a copious amount of interest in learning more about treating the critically ill. I also aspire to work on research throughout my career that will aid patient outcomes and local medical advancement.

Health Care Impact

I would like to improve nursing education for new nurses entering critical care. Improved policies and new employee orientation will aid in the ability to retain information and ability to think critically. Research that I would like to participate in would help make way for evidence-based practices to be written into policy within facilities. My goal is to help patients heal and overcome the most horrible time in their lives as well as to help new nurses learn how to apply their knowledge in this setting.

Grateful

This scholarship enables me to continue my education. I was recently out of work for quite some time due to a back surgery. This made finances tight within the household. Without this financial support, none of the advancements I would like to make would be possible.
