PhD graduates will be nurse scholars who:

  • Develop a substantive understanding of content and methods in a selected area of research to generate new knowledge.
  • Demonstrate competencies to conduct socially meaningful science that improves the outcomes in all people, particularly those experiencing social and health inequities.
  • Demonstrate competency in teaching and learning to advance the discipline through disseminating new knowledge to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes.
  • Articulate the clinical and policy implications of their research contributions.
