The AANA foundation received 995 student scholarship applications – only 53 scholarships were awarded. He was humbled to be invited to a student luncheon where the president of the AANA and other board members were in attendance to recognize the award recipients and their accomplishments.

Currently, Crescenzi is a research assistant where he is collecting data on patients for the early recognition of postoperative opioid induced respiratory depression (OIRD) in orthopedic and spinal patients. He is also working on his capstone project which focuses on using the STOP-Bang Questionnaire to screen for the occurrence of OIRD in postoperative orthopedic and spinal surgical patients.

Paul has been a registered nurse since 2007. He began his nursing career in the surgical intensive care unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. Nursing has given him the privilege to travel around the world, including to Kathmandu, Nepal, and Panama City, Panama, where he was a team leader for Operation Walk Syracuse (a not-for-profit volunteer medical services organization that provides free surgical treatments for patients in developing countries). Crescenzi is also an alumnus of Keuka College, St. Joseph’s College of Nursing and SUNY Brockport. He is looking forward to pursue an exciting career as a CRNA.
