Gerontological Society of America (GSA) unanimously approved Chang's fellowship on May 10, 2016.

Chang, who is also associate dean for research and scholarship in UB School of Nursing, is being recognized with this highest class of membership as an acknowledgement of her "outstanding and continuing work in the field of gerontology." She will be honored during a luncheon at the 69th Annual Scientific Meeting on November 16-20, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Chang's research areas include substance use and prescription medication use in older adults, and caregiving and medication management for individuals with dementia. She is also a part of two scholarly teams in the School of Nursing: Health Systems & Data Science and Promoting Health and Reducing Risk in Psychiatric Mental Health and Addictions.

Founded in 1945 and with members from more than 50 countries, the GSA is the world's oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to aging research, education and practice.
