Ellen Volpe receives mentored career development award

Ellen Volpe, assistant professor in the UB School of Nursing, was recently granted a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program KL2 Mentored Career Development Award.
Assistant Professor Ellen Volpe, PhD, RN, FNP-BC, was awarded a KL2 Program Mentored Career Development Award funded by Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) to UB and the Buffalo Translational Consortium. The two-year award provides Volpe with the opportunity to continue researching "The Effectiveness of Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) for Diverse Populations Experiencing Multiple Traumas."
The goal of this program is to train the next generation of leaders in clinical and translational research through awards offering partial salary support and research, tuition, and travel funds. The KL2 Program provides research training and mentoring in clinical and translational science and helps individuals to develop professional skills that aid in career transitions.
Volpe, who is part of the Promoting Health and Reducing Risk in Psychiatric Mental Health and Addictions scholarly team, earned a PhD from the University of Rochester School of Nursing and an MSN from Vanderbilt University. Her areas of research include dating violence, relationship power, adolescent risk behaviors, physical and mental health, and health care disparities/health equity.
