UB Nursing Student receives SUNY Chancellor's Award

Megan Pszonak, a traditional nursing student at the UB School of Nursing, was the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence at the Celebration of Student Excellence Ceremony on April 16 at the UB Center for the Arts.

Megan, a senior at the School of Nursing who is expected to graduate in May, also received the the UB Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creativity, which recognizes students for outstanding scholarly and creative work.  Megan's research project with faculty advisor Davina Porock, PhD, RN, Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship and Director of UB's Institute for Person-Centered Care, was entitled, " Impact of Music Therapy on Agitation and Cognitive Impairment in People with Dementia."    

The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence was created in 1997 to recognize students who have best demonstrated, and have been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement, or career achievement. The award is presented at the Annual Celebration of Academic Excellence which is a university-wide celebration of Scholarly, research and creative excellence.
