Chang's research focuses on geropsychiatric nursing and her areas of interest include substance abuse and depression in older adults, as well as dementia care. Currently, she is working on a funded study to understand prescription psychotherapeutic drug use in older adults. In addition, Chang is conducting research in family caregivers of people with cognitive impairments. She is working on a funded study to understand medication management and psychosocial and physical well-being in family caregivers of people with dementia.
