Alexander Salinas, BS '17, RN

Title: ICU Nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital (New York City)
Hometown/Country: Queens, NY - Originally from the Philippines

"During my time at UB SON, I was able to participate in a variety of programs that helped further my passion for nursing and helping the underserved populations. I had the opportunity to be apart of a research team with faculty members and work on cutting edge research to improve patient health.

"I also participated in the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Program in Knoxville, Tennessee. This interdisciplinary program allowed me to work with nursing students, dental students and faculty from all over the U.S and made me truly understand what my career can do to help others.

"In addition, my MICU internship at Erie County Medical Center allowed me to serve a diverse population of Buffalo in the critical area. It was one of the first times I told myself that this is something I want to become in the future."
