James Cozza is an experienced nurse practitioner, dual board-certified in family and emergency medicine. He has provided essential emergency medical care to diverse communities in Western New York for two decades. His varied roles have included working as an emergency medical technician, cardiovascular ICU RN, emergency RN, emergency NP and flight NP. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he delivered urgent home care to chronically ill patients.
Since 2004, Cozza has been committed to training medical professionals. He has mentored numerous NPs and PAs at UBMD Emergency Medicine, focusing on high-quality care for underserved and diverse populations. As a certified healthcare simulation educator and the simulation coordinator at the University at Buffalo School of Nursing, Cozza collaborates with faculty to enhance healthcare simulation in nursing and interprofessional programs. He has a particular interest in neurologic emergencies and the use of simulation to improve diagnostic reasoning in medical providers.
