WNYONEL is the regional chapter of the New York Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders (NYONEL), which represents nursing leaders in all practice areas, academia and research. Mann’s goals as president align with the organization’s mission to “engage, inspire and advance the practice of Western New York nursing leaders using evidence” and vision that “innovative nursing leaders will shape the future of health care in the region and across the state.”

“As president, with support from the expert leaders in our chapter membership, I hope to strengthen existing [alliances] and build new academic-practice alliances that foster development of the nursing workforce and nursing students, says Mann. “These alliances can collaborate to prepare area nurses as leaders at the bedside and in formal leadership roles within the health care system and in higher education.”

These goals, Mann says, are important to the organization and the nursing profession because leadership development in our region will directly impact the patients, families and communities that nursing professionals serve.

Mann formerly joined NYONEL in January and has been an active participant in WNYONEL from 2013-2015 and since the chapter was revitalized in 2019. She was also an invited speaker and panelist for several WNYONEL events, where she discussed and presented on topics that include the role of nurse leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion; lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic; trends in higher education and their impact on health equity; and innovations in education and practice partnerships.
