Lisa Wahlers is a member of the first nurse anesthesia DNP class to graduate from the UB School of Nursing in May of 2015.  As a student, Lisa is said to be very diligent, excelling in her clinical rotations according to program faculty members. Upon receiving the news of the scholarship award Lisa states, “I am delighted and honored to have been chosen as a Sheridan National Allied Health Scholarship recipient. I persevered through many limitations being raised in a single parent household to arrive at the position I am at today. This scholarship is the first time I have been granted any substantial financial assistance to lend me the ability to further my education and I am extremely thankful. I feel that my extensive healthcare experience, education, and life skills have allowed me to become a well-rounded practitioner. I believe that I possess the knowledge to effectively and compassionately care for my patients safely during a critical point in their lives. My future plans upon graduation are to practice anesthesia as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in a level 1 hospital to continue earning irreplaceable experience caring for high acuity patients. This scholarship will help me to continue my journey toward obtaining my goals.”

The Sheridan National Allied Health Scholarship is sponsored by the Education Outreach Program (EOP) and recognizes individual SRNA’s for exemplary clinical and leadership skills at the national level. The selection process is rigorous as only four student scholarships are awarded each year to SRNAs from full-time, accredited anesthesiology programs in the United States.
