About Our Admissions Process

  • The School of Nursing reserves the right to change admission and program criteria to meet prevailing accreditation and registration requirements.
  • Students who have been dismissed from other nursing programs are not eligible for admission. 
  • An interview is required for all graduate programs as part of the review process. Qualified applicants will be notified of interview via email.

Admissions Information

Admissions Criteria

  • The equivalent of a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Active, unencumbered U.S. RN license.
  • Overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher and nursing GPA of 3.25 or higher.
  • Minimum of two years of U.S.-based ICU experience required at the time of application.
What Counts as ICU Experience?

A critical care area is defined as a setting where, on a routine basis, the registered professional nurse manages one or more of the following:

  • Invasive hemodynamic monitoring (such as pulmonary artery catheter, CVP and arterial lines)
  • Cardiac assist devices
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Vasoactive infusions

Examples of qualifying units may include, but are not limited to:

  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
  • Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)
  • Coronary Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
  • Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Applicants with experience in other areas may be considered if they can demonstrate competence in managing unstable patients, invasive monitoring, ventilators and critical care pharmacology.

  • Application fee: $75
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended.
  • Resume/curriculum vitae highlighting RN experience and ICU experience, including contact information of most recent nurse manager.
  • Personal statement.
  • Three references from a graduate-prepared professional or a health care professional you have worked with within the last five years.
  • Proof of all additional certifications achieved (e.g., CCRN, BLS, ACLS, PALS).

CRNA Interview Dates

After all applications are reviewed, we will invite 60 applicants to campus for an in-person interview. Invitations will be sent via email, and interview spots will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
