Admissions Criteria

  • Recommended overall undergraduate GPA: 2.5
    • Below 2.5 GPA: Submit a personal statement and two letters of recommendation. (Student Services will contact applicants via email regarding submission of supplemental materials and deadlines for submission. Applicants with a GPA below 2.5 who do not submit supplemental materials will not be eligible for consideration.
  • Statistics requirement: Students can complete as a prerequisite or corequisite with NBC 348 with a minimum 2.0 ("C") grade.
    • Transfer credit may satisfy this requirement. Contact Laura Woods for more information.
  • Associate degree in nursing degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
    • Applicants completing an RN program may apply for the RN to BS Early Assurance program. Acceptance is conditional pending successful completion of nursing degree.
  • Unencumbered U.S. RN license.
Notice to RN to BS Program Applicants

Students with diploma and hospital program transcripts that are not regionally accredited are not eligible to apply to the RN to BS Program.

Only credit-bearing courses from regionally accredited institutions of higher learning are considered transferable to the university.

Required Steps

  1. Submit UB transfer SUNY application and $50 application fee. 
  2. Submit transcripts to UB via email or mail.
  3. Submit resume.
  4. If you did not attend high school directly after graduation: Submit a gap statement to UB Office of Admissions.
  5. International applicants: Contact UB International Undergraduate Admissions for additional requirements.

SUNY Application Fee Waiver

Students graduating with an AA or AS from SUNY or CUNY, applying directly to a SUNY four-year campus, will have up to seven application fees waived. Visit the SUNY website for more information.

Admission to UB as an intended nursing major does not guarantee admission as an approved major to the School of Nursing.
