Accelerated BS in Nursing - Admissions
Start your journey to a rewarding nursing career with the University at Buffalo's Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree in another discipline, this intensive program allows you to quickly transition into the nursing field.
- The School of Nursing reserves the right to change admission and program criteria to meet prevailing accreditation and registration requirements.
- Our application process is competitive and based on holistic review of application materials.
- Applicants who have been dismissed from other nursing programs are not eligible for admission.
- Applicants who previously attended a nursing program but were not dismissed must submit the verification of good standing form.

- Prerequisites: 4 of 9 complete before application deadline; remaining complete before program begins

Required Steps
- Submit UB SUNY application and $50 application fee or Re-entry application (no fee required).
NOTE: Current UB students do not need to complete this step. See the "Current UB Students" section below. - Submit transcripts to UB (not NursingCAS). Transcripts from all schools attended are required.
- Create a NursingCAS account.
- Search for the program: SUNY University at Buffalo.
- Application essay questions & resume.
- Pay the $60 application fee.
- Submit the NursingCAS application.

SUNY Application Fee Waiver
Students graduating with an AA or AS from SUNY or CUNY, applying directly to a SUNY four-year campus, will have up to seven application fees waived. Visit the SUNY website for more information.
Required Steps
- Confirm eligibility: Check minimum GPAs and prerequisite requirements.
- Check your credits: Ensure your transfer and/or test credits are posted in HUB.
- Create a NursingCAS account.
- Search for the program: SUNY University at Buffalo.
- Application essay questions & resume.
- Pay the $55 application fee.
- Submit the NursingCAS application.

- Review UBLearns nursing advisement.
- Develop nursing experiences.
- Develop leadership experiences.
- Monitor your GPA in HUB.
- Utilize the Center for Excellence in Writing (application essays).
Transfer students and second degree students may complete the remaining prerequisite courses at UB as an intended nursing major or they can apply directly to the upper division program if they have met all the admission requirements.
- Contact UB Office of Admissions for questions about transfer or re-entry applications.
- Apply to UB as a transfer or re-entry intended nursing major.
- Intended nursing majors are advised by the School of Nursing in planning prerequisite courses, UB general education and compiling a competitive application. After you receive your admission to UB, submit your deposit, and submit your data form, call 716-829-2537 to schedule an appointment.
- Prerequisite courses at UB are not offered every semester, therefore it is recommended that prospective students attend an information session or contact the UB School of Nursing for assistance well in advance of applying.
Admission to UB as an intended nursing major does not guarantee admission as an approved major to the School of Nursing.
