Traditional BS in Nursing - Admissions

1. Confirm eligibility: Check minimum GPAs and prerequisite requirements.
2. Check your credits: Ensure your transfer and/or test credits are posted in HUB.
3. Create a NursingCAS account.
   •  Search for the program: SUNY University at Buffalo.
   • Application essay questions & resume.
   • Pay the $55 application fee.
4. Submit the NursingCAS application.

• See your nursing advisor.
• Attend group advising.
• Review UBLearns nursing advisement.
• Develop nursing experiences.
• Develop leadership experiences.
• Monitor your GPA in HUB.
• Utilize the Center for Excellence in Writing (application essays).

The Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is an upper-division program that consists of two years of prerequisite courses and two years of nursing curriculum. Students may apply directly to the nursing program (approved nursing major), typically in the spring semester of their sophomore year in college.

• Contact UB Office of Admissions for questions about first-year applications and visit opportunities.
• Apply to UB as a first-year intended nursing major.
• Academically gifted students are also encouraged to apply to the UB Honors College, which offers the benefit of our guaranteed Dual Admission Program.
  
• Intended nursing majors are advised directly by the School of Nursing in planning prerequisite courses, UB general education and compiling a competitive application.
• Additional advising opportunities are available with the Finish in 4 pledge, UB's commitment to your graduation.
  
• Intended nursing majors are also encouraged to develop alternate plans in consultation with their nursing academic advisor that may include alternate majors at UB and/or nursing programs at other institutions.

Transfer students and second degree students may complete the remaining prerequisite courses at UB as an intended nursing major or they can apply directly to the upper division program if they have met all the admission requirements.

• Intended nursing majors are advised by the School of Nursing in planning prerequisite courses, UB general education and compiling a competitive application. After you receive your admission to UB, submit your deposit, and submit your data form, call 716-829-2537 to schedule an appointment.
• Prerequisite courses at UB are not offered every semester, therefore it is recommended that prospective students attend an information session or contact the UB School of Nursing for assistance well in advance of applying.
