Why nursing?

I have always worked in professions where I am helping people; it is something I am passionate about. While in school for my first associates, I worked as a preschool teacher. While it brought me great joy, I wanted more. I wanted a career in which I could touch those not just in the good times but also in the times where they are vulnerable and in need of a safe and healing environment. Not only does nursing allow me to help people, but it allows me to learn new things on a daily basis. I always knew nursing was for me, it just took time for me to make this dream a reality.

Why UB?

Coming from another SUNY school, I knew the quality education that University at Buffalo would provide me with. I wanted an education from a program that would allow me to further my skills as a nurse and grow professionally. I also looked up information on UB’s RN to BS program and saw that not only was it a well-known program, but it also aligned best with my future goals. For example, in the short amount of time that I have attended Buffalo, I have grown so much in my research abilities and skills.

Areas of Interest

I am most interested in pediatrics. I have been working with children since I was 16, so I have learned to be very patient. I enjoy working with children because they provide such unique perspectives on different scenarios. In fact, sometimes they can be more honest and open than adults.

Activities and Accolades

I graduated with distinction with both of my associates' degrees and I was also on the President’s list for several semesters. Currently, I am planning a volunteer trip to Argentina to learn more about and serve those in need.

What's Next

Post gradation, I hope to study further and obtain my master’s degree.
