UB School of Nursing faculty members take on leadership roles with ONS

Pamela Paplham, DNP, AOCNP, FNP-BC, clinical associate professor and Darryl Somayaji, PhD, RN, CCRC, assistant professor have been elected to as coordinators of two Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Special Interest Groups (SIG).

Paplham, who is also a BMT Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Hematology Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institut,e will lead the Blood and Marrow Stem Cell Transplant Group. Somayaji, whose research interests include cancer and health disparities, will take over leadership of the Advanced Nursing Research Group. Their terms will begin in April, 2015 at the close of the ONS 40th Annual Congress.  The current coordinator of the Advanced Nursing research Group, Robin Lally, PhD, RN, AOCN is also a UB associate professor and adjunct assistant professor at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

ONS Specialty Interest Groups consist of members who share ideas, information, and experiences with others in the same cancer care subspecialty. Currently there are 27 SIGs each with their own focus, resources and discussion forum.
