Family/Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Advanced Certificate - Admissions

This program offers in-depth training in mental health across the lifespan. Students gain advanced skills to assess, diagnose and plan treatments for psychiatric disorders and co-morbid conditions. The curriculum includes prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, implementing psychotherapy, and promoting health and illness prevention.

Eligibility for Licensure

Students residing out of state should first contact their state board of nursing to determine eligibility for licensure in your state. If you need additional clarification, please contact the School of Nursing Office of Student Services.

About Our Admissions Process

  • The School of Nursing reserves the right to change admission and program criteria to meet prevailing accreditation and registration requirements.
  • Students who have been dismissed from other nursing programs are not eligible for admission. 
  • An interview is required for all graduate programs as part of the review process. Qualified applicants will be notified of interview via email.

Admissions Requirements

  • The equivalent of a Master of Science (MS) degree in advanced practice nursing.
  • Active U.S. RN and NP licenses.
  • An active national certification in your specialty area.
  • MS GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Application Materials

  • Online application.
  • Application fee: $75
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended.
  • Resume/curriculum vitae.
  • Personal statement.
  • Three references.

Admissions evaluations and decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. The Nursing Core courses may or may not be waived based on admitted student’s work experience and/or time since completing his/her previous nursing program(s).
